Troubleshooting
Why rows fail to import, and how to fix them
After an import, Rows That Failed to Import lists each skipped row with its reasons. Click Download Failed Rows, fix them, and import that file. Here's what the common reasons mean.
A required column is missing
The whole file is checked against the Required Fields card on the import page. Add the missing column with exactly that name. A free template has every column already.
"Price must be a number followed by your currency code"
Write prices like 19.99 USD: a number, a space, and the currency from your Settings. A different currency ("Price must use your own currency") isn't allowed. See Prices and currency.
"… must start with http:// or https://"
Product URLs and image links must be full addresses, such as https://yoursite.com/mug, not yoursite.com/mug.
"… must be N characters or fewer"
The ID, title, description, or another value is over the platform's limit. See Titles and descriptions and Product IDs.
"Please select a valid availability" (or condition, gender, age group)
Use one of the exact values the platform accepts, in lowercase: in stock, out of stock, new, used, and so on. See Availability and condition.
"… required for this Google Product Category"
Clothing and shoes need a color, size, gender, and age group on Facebook, Google, and Bing. Fill those columns in for those rows. See Clothing and shoes.
The Product ID is already in your catalog
Importing never overwrites a product. Edit it in Manage Product Catalog, or give the new product a different ID.
"GTIN must contain only numbers"
Remove dashes and spaces from the barcode number. See Brand, GTIN, and MPN.
