Adding & managing products
Import products from a file (CSV, TSV, JSON, XML, or Google Sheets)
Import From File adds many products at once. Every row is checked the same way the Add Product form checks a single product.
How to import
- In the sidebar, under your catalog, click Import From File.
- Read the Required Fields card. It lists every column your file must have for this catalog, plus any rules that depend on other fields.
- Choose the File Format: CSV, TSV, TXT (comma or tab delimited), JSON, XML, or Google Sheets (public link).
- Choose your file, or paste the Google Sheets link.
- Click Import. When it's done, Import Results shows how many products were added and lists any rows that failed.
What your file needs
- A header row with the column names from the Required Fields card. Column order doesn't matter, and extra columns are ignored.
- One product per row, each with a Product ID that isn't already in your catalog.
- Need a starting file? Our free template generators build a ready-to-fill file with the right columns: Pinterest, Facebook, Google, and Bing.
Importing from Google Sheets
Share the sheet as Anyone with the link can view (in Google Sheets: File > Share > General access), then paste its link into Google Sheets URL. A private sheet can't be read.
Importing an XML file
XML files don't have fixed column names, so after you choose an XML file, the page shows Map Your XML Tags. For each field, pick the XML tag that holds it. Fields left as Don't import are skipped.
Importing adds; it never replaces
Importing only adds new products. It never removes or changes what's already in your catalog. A row whose Product ID is already in your catalog is skipped. To change an existing product, edit it in Manage Product Catalog.
Fixing rows that failed
A row with a missing required field or an invalid value is skipped as a whole, never saved half-done. The Rows That Failed to Import table shows each row number, its Product ID, and the reasons. Why rows fail to import explains the common ones.
- Click Download Failed Rows to get just those rows as a file.
- Fix the reasons listed for each row.
- Import the fixed file. The rows that already imported won't be duplicated, because their Product IDs are already in your catalog.
