Check a file before importing (free CSV Validator and templates)

Two free tools help you get a file right before you import it. Neither needs an account, and nothing is uploaded to your catalog.

Start from a template

The template generators build a file with the right columns, plus example rows you can overwrite:

• Pinterest catalog CSV template
• Facebook catalog CSV template
• Google catalog TSV template
• Bing catalog CSV template

Choose the Standard preset to get exactly the columns Import From File expects for a Basic catalog.

Check a CSV with the validator

1. Open the free CSV Validator.
2. Choose which platform the file is for, and read its Required CSV Fields.
3. Choose your file. The results list every row with a problem and why.

The validator checks rows with the same rules as Import From File, up to 500 rows per file, and only reads comma-separated CSV files.

Then import

Once the file is clean, bring it in with Import From File.
