How to use your template
- Choose a preset or tick the columns you need. Clothing and shoes need the apparel columns.
- Download the TSV and open it in Excel, Google Sheets, or Numbers. Keep it tab-delimited when you save - Google recommends tab-delimited text files.
- Replace the example rows with your products - one row per product, keeping the header row exactly as it is.
- Want to check it first? Download the CSV version instead and run it through our free CSV Validator.
- In Merchant Center, go to Settings > Data sources, add a product source from a file, and upload it - or have Google fetch it from a URL on a schedule.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why TSV instead of CSV for Google?
Google Merchant Center product files are tab-delimited text (.txt or .tsv) or XML. Tab-delimited avoids problems with commas inside titles and descriptions, so the template downloads as TSV.
What columns does a Google Merchant Center feed need?
Every product needs id, title, description, link, image_link, availability, and price. New products also need brand, products with barcodes need gtin, and clothing needs age_group, gender, color, and size.
Can I use Google Sheets instead?
Yes. Open the template in Google Sheets, fill it in, and add the sheet as a product source in Merchant Center, or download it as tab-separated values and upload the file.
Can I check the template with the CSV Validator?
Yes. Download the CSV version with the Standard preset - it matches the format our free CSV Validator checks for Google catalogs.
Is the template generator free?
Yes. It is free with no account or signup, and it runs entirely in your browser - nothing you choose is uploaded or saved.
