Product image links: what works
Platforms download your product image from the Image Link you give them, so the link must lead straight to the image file.
Get a direct image link
- Open the product page on your website.
- Right-click the main product photo and choose Copy image address (the wording varies by browser).
- Paste it into Image Link. It should start with
https://and usually ends in.jpg,.png, or.webp.
To check it, paste the link into a new browser tab. You should see only the image, not a web page.
Tip: the Chrome extension shows every image it finds on a product page as thumbnails, so you can click the right one instead of copying links. See Add a product with the Chrome extension.
Why an image link fails
- It's a page, not an image, such as a link to a gallery or a file-sharing preview page.
- It isn't public. Images behind a login, or on a site that blocks bots, can't be downloaded by platforms.
- It changed. If you replace the image on your site and the old link stops working, update the Image Link too.
- It's a placeholder or logo, or has text, watermarks, or borders added on top. Platforms can reject promotional overlays.
- It's too small. Use a clear, well-lit product photo at least 800 pixels on its shortest side.
Image links can be up to 2,000 characters and must start with http:// or https://.
Adding extra images
On Enhanced catalogs, tick the extra media section on the Add Product form to add Additional Image Links: other angles, lifestyle photos, or close-ups. Separate several links with commas.
