Connect your Square store
1. Connect it
- Open Connections, choose the Source tab, and choose Square.
- Enter your Square Online site's address as the Store URL: your own domain if you've connected one, or your square.site address.
- Click Connect to Square. You're sent to Square: sign in if asked, and approve read-only access to your items, inventory, and business profile.
- You're brought back to Pin Data Connect, and your first sync starts on its own.
2. Changes sync automatically
Whenever you change an item or its stock in Square, Square tells Pin Data Connect and your catalogs update on their own, a few moments later. Last sync on the Square Connection card shows what changed. You can also click Sync Now at any time.
Each sync checks your whole item library but only updates products that actually changed. Archived items, services, events, and donations are left out, and an item you delete in Square is removed from your catalogs.
3. Check your product page links
Every listing needs a link to the product's page in your store, and Square doesn't share one. So each product's link comes from, in this order:
- A link you add under Product Page Links.
- A Product page URL custom attribute on the item in your Square Dashboard, if you create one (Items > Custom attributes).
- Your Square Online site's sitemap, matched by product name. This finds most products on its own.
Products that can't be matched (for example, two items with the same name, or an item renamed after its page was made) are listed under Needs a Link. Paste each one's page address from your store and click Save Link. They aren't listed on Pinterest, Facebook, Google, or Bing until they have one.
4. Map your Square categories
After your first sync, your Square categories appear under Needs Mapping. Map the ones that say what a product is, such as "Mugs" or "T-Shirts", to a Google product category. Categories like "Sale" can be left unmapped: if an item is in several, the first one that's mapped is used. See Category mapping and sync settings.
Good to know
- Items with several variations sync as one listing per variation, grouped under the item. Options named Color and Size are used as the color and size.
- Brand comes from a Brand custom attribute on the item, or from your Pin Data Connect Settings.
- Prices use your Square account's currency. An item with no description uses its name instead, since every platform requires one.
- Square has no gender or age group fields, which Facebook and Google require for clothing and shoes. See Clothing details.
- Moved your online store? Update the Square Online site address under Square Account. Removed Pin Data Connect in your Square Dashboard? Click Reconnect to Square.
- Disconnect Store also ends Pin Data Connect's access to your Square account.
Field-by-field details are in our guide to Square to Pinterest.
